China visit: Beyond trade, investment

The deals and memoranda of understanding signed between China and Kenya during President Ruto’s visit to China this week are mostly “hard,” involving some concrete.

Whether it is the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), new roads or factories, they are visible and tangible. A chicken farm was mentioned, right?

We would have expected investments in critical areas like artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and electric cars, in which the Chinese are leaders; think of a BYD factory for electric cars.
